Step
1: Assess
Our first step is to brainstorm ideas with a wide
variety of campus constituencies. Our goal is to
develop an innovative and comprehensive list of
potential improvement opportunities. Working individually
and as project teams, we review financial information,
key processes, organization and management structures,
and other systems. At the conclusion of this step
we develop and present high-level descriptions of
potential value, with a recommended prioritization
of key initiatives.

Step
2: Analyze
Step 2 validates cost and benefit estimates, weighs
policy and political sensitivities, and evaluates
practices against comparable institutions. In this
deeper level of analysis we also work with our project
teams to structure and plan an approach, timeframe,
and resource requirements to realize each opportunity.
Our goal with this step is to answer any and all
questions necessary to secure executive-level sponsorship
for the campus’ most important and pressing initiatives.

Step
3: Design
During step 3 we engage key campus stakeholders
in creating models and blueprints for achieving
value. Teams will redesign business processes, identify
project interdependencies and required IT enablement,
secure appropriate budget and funding structures,
define implementation plans, and establish measurement
scorecards. The Design phase readies the organization
for implementation of the prioritized initiatives.

Step
4: Deploy
Step 4 implements the designed solutions and positions
the campus for achieving value. Working in tandem
with key stakeholders and managers, our teams apply
process changes, enable technology solutions, actualize
new organizational structures and roles, conduct
solution and organizational readiness training,
and instigate measurement scorecards.
